I had a great time visiting my Mum (now well into her 80’s) in Western Australia last week whilst my sister flew to Victoria for her granddaughters 1st birthday.
Mum is doing really well, not great on the old legs but still bright as a spark and can eat like a starving dingo. The family cat however is another story! Whilst in W.A. I picked up some great instruments, too many to bring on the flight home so I posted them to myself here in Bracken Ridge, they will be up on the website soon as soon as they have been returned to me after servicing. For those interested I visited the Guilford area in W.A which is well known for genuine antiques, I could spend a month there just in one shop. Amongst the furniture, paintings, rare collectables were some vintage musical instruments, I bought a few! just a snapshot..... some Albert System clarinets, some beautiful black African wooden flutes, a 1870 Hawkes and Son pee shooter trombone, an Italian wooden clarinet with some sort of cross between Albert and Boehm system, a French metal clarinet. Some could be made playable but all would look great on display in your studio, man-cave or hanging on a wall somewhere, there is also an option to re-purpose them as table lamps or similar, please check the website soon for pictures. It was nice to see Mum and my home town
